Society’s Rugby branch welcomes Mark Pawsey MP
The MP met Hinckley & Rugby chief executive Colin Fyfe and the branch staff, plus explored the Society’s community links with local artist Janet Watson and Yasmin Audhali from Warwickshire’s Myton Hospice.Myton has been one of three hospices to share £150,000 generated by the Society’s Affinity savings account since 2008. Savers choose the account knowing that one per cent of the average balances held will be donated to the hospices each year.Janet displayed her paintings at the Rugby branch last summer during the Rugby Festival of Culture, which Hinckley & Rugby sponsors, and will be doing so again later this month for the 2019 Festival.Colin Fyfe said:“As Rugby’s building society we were keen to show Mark how we and our members support people and organisations in the town and beyond. We want to do more, share our space and our resources, skills and experience.”Mark Pawsey said:“I was delighted to visit and spend some time with a Rugby institution that has been here for 158 years. It’s an important part of our community, both as a business and for the service it provides to the people of Rugby and Warwickshire.”Yasmin Audhali, corporate fundraiser at Myton Hospice, said:“The Affinity account contributes significantly to the development of the hospice, and particularly the day hospice in Rugby. Hinckley & Rugby is one of our longest serving supporters.”Janet Watson said: “Having my art in such a prominent window in Rugby is a great showcase. It means we are helping each other and the Festival of Culture.” Ref. https://www.hrbs.co.uk/19854-societys-rugby-branch-welcomes-mark-pawsey-mp/
